The design approach of this large holiday home in Vale do Lobo was based on its unique location in proximity to the sea view and a golf course. The property had a conspicuous design on the outside, with the spacious and bright living areas on the inside surprising anyone who walked in because of their functionality and flexibility.
Located in one of the most prestigious and charming areas of the Algarve, the land that houses the project in question, adds a lot of quality to the architectural design. Its surroundings provide its users with a feeling of comfort, tranquility and privacy, elements sought after by all.
The layout of the building along the land was based on the premises of its future residents, on the sunstroke of the place and on privacy. The “L” shaped layout embraces the land and makes the project open to the South, where the garden is located, leisure and social areas, such as the long pool that develops along the land and the splendid “outdoor dining” with its fireplace. We emphasise that in addition to meeting the privacy premises, avoiding noise and external factors, the format designed for the residence allows maintaining the largest possible number of existing trees, important for the environment and for the thermal comfort of the building.
Divided into two floors, the main volume of the building comprises on its ground floor all social and service areas, on the upper floor the guest room and the master suite. In the second volume of the project, in the part of the house with only one floor, we find the areas reserved for children, with suites and leisure areas, separate from the other areas of the residence. All environments have openings to the south, allowing to capture the best possible sunshine.
In addition to the aforementioned floors, the project includes a basement, which consists of a very spacious parking lot, technical areas and storage areas, connected to the ground floor through staircases.
The shape and concept of the residence were designed in the same language as the surroundings, with a colonial and very charming style, with symmetry as a guide for all layout and volume. Despite the layout of the rooms having a contemporary and modern format, with social areas in “open space”, the concept rescued the classic and charming European style, with the use of traditional roofs, openings with blinds, frames and narrow balconies, always adapting the elements described with the current architecture. The front facade faces the public road, and stands out for its elegant, imposing and symmetrical appearance, comforted by the beautiful landscape proposed. Two entrances were created through the ends of the land for external access, where the interior sidewalk leads us to the porch of access to the residence, located at the central point of the project.
Architectural permeability has always been highlighted and desired at all stages of the project, which is why it is possible to perceive that the openings are aimed at all facades in all volumes, where in addition to enabling the continuity of the environments, integrating them with the exterior, we achieve a better flow in the daily routine, regardless of use, be it service or leisure.
The construction will combine natural and recyclable materials and modern technologies, in a perfect combination of sustainable, traditional and contemporary architecture.
